Founded in 2014 by artists Clare Kelly and John Wiese, Hesse Press is a Los Angeles based independent publishing house specializing in poetry, fiction, and experimental prose. Beginning as a series of artist monographs, the house pivoted to its text imprint in 2019, and continues to expand its author base beyond southern California, inspired by the ambitious and innovative nature of its home and the pioneering influence of the press’s namesake, Eva Hesse.

Hesse Press titles are commissioned by invitation only, and are distributed in partnership with Asterism Books and Public Knowledge Books (Europe).
